Tom van der Meer


T.W.G. (Tom) van der Meer (1980) studied Political Science and History (Leiden University), wrote his dissertation in (political) sociology (Radboud University Nijmegen, cum laude), and works as a full Professor, in particular Legitimacy, Inequality, and Citizenship, at the Department of Political Science of the University of Amsterdam. His research focuses primarily on three topics: political and institutional trust, social capital (most notably citizen participation, political socialization, and the relationship with ethnic diversity), and electoral volatility.
